The Department Bioresources for Bioeconomy and Health Research investigates the potential of biological material for its application in human medicine and biotechnology. We study the biosynthetic potential of diverse natural compound producers, investigate the anti-infective properties of secondary metabolites against clinical pathogens and examine the antibacterial potential of bacteriophages. We use different biotechnological strategies,  including Genome Mining, Synthetic Biology and Genetic Engineering to have full access to the anti-infective wealth of biological material.
